In these chaotic times, it’s likely that you or your teen is struggling with finding a sense of structure and accomplishment.
With school being either hybrid or all online and with hobbies having to look a bit different these days, it makes sense if things are feeling a bit all over the place.
One skill that can help you or your teen build a sense of accomplishment and structure is Build Mastery.
Build Mastery is all about consciously choosing to do at least one thing each day, big or small, to feel accomplished and productive.
Some tips with Build Mastery:
Plan for success, not failure. Choose something that’s a challenge but isn’t impossible.
Gradually increase the difficulty over time. Small progress is still progress!
Look for a challenge. If the thing you try today is too easy, try something harder tomorrow!
Some ideas for Build Mastery activities:
Washing some of the dishes
Picking up laundry from the floor
Cleaning garbage out of your car
Cleaning out your email inbox
Making your bed
Doing a load of laundry
Go through your clothing and donate things that don’t fit or you don’t want
Study for a test
Draw or paint
Practice a musical instrument
These are just a few ideas – almost anything can be used to Build Mastery!
This week, challenge yourself or your teen to incorporate Build Mastery each day and see the difference it may make.
