I'm Sydney Haber and I help teens learn the skills to accept themselves and redefine their relationship with their bodies. If you're struggling with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and self-criticism, I am here to guide you towards embracing your true light and shining brightly.
Credentials and Expertise
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with extensive experience in an inpatient eating disorder facility, and I work with teens through adults who struggle with restrictive eating, binging, purging, and dysphoria related to their appearance.
Recovery from Trauma and the Path to Creativity
I have a special interest in working with teens who have experienced trauma or are seeking a creative path towards healing. Whether through art or movement, I incorporate these modalities when they are helpful or motivating for clients. I have a special interest in supporting teens navigating difficult family dynamics or coping with the separation and divorce of caregivers. I am trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), a method that quickly helps with anxiety, depression, panic, grief, and trauma. ART is known for fast results, often in just a few sessions.
Building Trust with Hesitant Teens
With years of experience as a mental health technician on inpatient units at psychiatric hospitals, I have developed skills to establish trust and rapport with individuals who may initially feel ambivalent about therapy or changing their behaviors. I am proficient in motivational interviewing and adept at increasing clients' desire to change problematic behaviors. I am trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to effectively work with high-risk, self-harming, and suicidal teens.
Helping Clients Overcome Dog Phobias
I have a focused concentration in helping individuals (teen and adult) overcome dog phobias. Using a blend of Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and gentle, graded exposure, I offer an intensive 90-minute session with a therapy dog present. This structured, supportive approach helps clients reprocess fear, build confidence, and practice real-time coping skills. I’ve seen truly magical shifts—clients who once felt frozen around dogs leaving sessions confidently petting and interacting with them after just one experience.
Specialized Training for OCD
With specialized training in Exposure and Response Prevention (EXRP), I am equipped to work with teens struggling with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Together, we'll address the underlying factors contributing to OCD symptoms, providing you with the tools to reclaim control over your life.
Beyond the Therapy Room
When I'm not working with clients, I enjoy walking and going on hikes with my dog and family, immersing myself in the beauty of nature. These moments allow me to recharge and connect with the world around me.
