I’m Kelley Coady and I guide teens in understanding and accepting who they are while equipping them with concrete tools to make life easier along their journey.
Credentials and Expertise
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Home and School Visitor Certification, I bring extensive experience in working with those who find themselves overwhelmed, frequently in trouble, or struggling with social interactions. Through my role as a School Social Worker, I have addressed a wide range of challenges faced by students, including bullying, suicidal thoughts, test anxiety, peer conflicts, and the overwhelming world of social media.
Building Resilience and Empathy
I have a deep passion for fostering creativity and thinking outside the box. Together, we can engage in various approaches, whether it's through conversations, doodling, or even physical movement. I believe in tailoring our sessions to suit each individual's unique needs and preferences.
Trauma-Informed and Evidence-Based Approaches
My concentration in trauma work, coupled with my training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Prolonged Exposure, enables me to provide effective support to clients who have experienced sexual, physical, or emotional abuse or trauma. By understanding the impact of trauma on the brain's ability to learn, function, and interact, we work towards rewiring harmful patterns and fostering healing and wholeness. I'm trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), a therapy that offers quick, structured support for trauma and helps clients quickly feel better from PTSD symptoms, anxiety, grief and panic attacks.
I am certified in Exposure and Response Prevention (EXRP) for teens with OCD, and I deliver the SPACE program, which assists parents in reducing accommodations and supporting teens with anxiety and OCD at home.
Empowering Positive Change
Together, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), we will focus on identifying warning signs, triggers, and patterns. Through this therapeutic approach, we can develop personalized strategies to respond effectively, rather than reacting impulsively. I lead a Teen DBT Skills Group and love using concrete strategies to support teens in building a life they love. My goal is to help your teen turn their inner critic into their inner coach, fostering a sense of safety, security, and self-empowerment.
Beyond the Therapy Room
Outside of my counseling practice, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, including our dog, Claude. You can often find me in the kitchen, indulging in my passion for cooking. I also love home improvement projects and enjoy outdoor activities, concerts, and practicing yoga. And, of course, I appreciate a cozy evening with Netflix, popcorn, and relaxation.
