I’m Tara Rubinstein, and I help teens who feel misunderstood
finally see themselves reflected and supported.
Guiding Teens Who Feel Misunderstood or Out of Place
The teens I work best with are the ones asking big questions, pushing against expectations, and struggling to fit in — whether that’s around identity, gender, sexuality, family conflict, friendships, or a school culture that just doesn’t feel right. These are the teens who often feel “too much” or “too different,” but who are carrying incredible insight and passion inside. My role is to help them channel that energy into finding their voice, building resilience, and creating a sense of belonging.
Creating Safe Spaces for Growth, Family, and Community
I’m currently earning my Master’s in Counseling at Chestnut Hill College, working toward licensure as a Professional Counselor. For more than two decades, I’ve led programs for teens in spaces like The Attic Youth Center, Artemis Pack, Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, and The Arts & Spirituality Center. My work has centered on LGBTQ identity, drag performance, spirituality, anti-racism, mythology, body positivity, sexual wellness, and community building. These experiences have taught me how to hold space for teens whose biggest struggles exist right alongside their deepest passions.
Creative Tools That Make Therapy Feel Real and Engaging
I believe healing doesn’t just happen one-on-one — it happens in the context of families and communities. That’s why I love working with groups and families, bringing in creative tools like art, writing, meditation, and even tarot or crafting to make therapy feel engaging and real.
Beyond the Therapy Room
When I’m not with clients, I’m usually with my family, my spouse, four kids (one biological and three stepkids), and two dogs. Or adventuring with friends, cooking, and finding small ways every day to make the world a little better.
