I'm Madison Bear, and I'm here to help you overcome those challenges and create a happier, healthier life. Through skill-building and creating healthy connections, I empower teens to navigate their emotions and thrive.
My Approach
I specialize in supporting clients with depression, anxiety, self-harm, and suicidal ideation. Taking a skills-based approach, I help clients regulate their emotions and navigate life's challenges. I work best with motivated individuals who are eager to learn new coping mechanisms and improve their mood.
Credentials and Expertise
I hold a master's degree in social work with a clinical specialization in children and families from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Rooted in inclusivity and social justice, my practice is dedicated to creating a safe space where clients feel seen, heard, and supported.
Experience
As an Intensive Outpatient Program Therapist, I facilitated group therapy sessions for high-risk adolescents aged 13-18 with mental health disorders, including co-occurring eating disorders. I also provided individual, group, and family therapy sessions using evidence-based interventions such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). My approach includes conducting assessments and developing client-centered treatment plans focused on your strengths.
Focus Areas
I specialize in working with adolescents experiencing anxiety, depression, and struggling with personal identity. Drawing from my lived experience, I understand the challenges of seeking help and believing in yourself. My goal is for my clients to feel comfortable, confident, and maintain wellness. I support clients in improving interpersonal relationships, building self-esteem, managing difficult emotions, and cultivating positive thinking patterns.
Collaborative and Trauma-Focused
My therapeutic approach is collaborative and trauma-focused. I value involving caregivers in the process and offer family sessions to deepen understanding and support. Together, we'll work on healthy communication, setting boundaries, regulating emotions, and fostering positive thinking.
Beyond the Therapy Room
When I'm not working with clients, you can find me rewatching my favorite shows, diving into a good book, exploring new restaurants, or enjoying time with friends.
