I'm Lauren McGarvey and I help teens rework thought patterns and behaviors, providing relief from negative symptoms and empowering them to create a life worth living.
Credentials and Expertise
I have a Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling with an Integrative Health Concentration from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. My work in various counseling and mentoring roles, combined with my research background focused on rumination, mindfulness, and gratitude, enables me to provide evidence-based and comprehensive support.
Cultivating Resilience, Supporting Transitions: An Empowering Approach
I specialize in working with teens experiencing anxiety, uncertainty during the high school to college transition, and individuals living with chronic illness. Together, we'll cultivate resiliency to navigate these challenges, transforming unhelpful thoughts and behaviors into more positive and healthy patterns.
Chronic Illness Support: A Holistic Mind-Body Approach
As someone who was diagnosed with POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) almost a decade ago, I have a personal understanding of the challenges that come with living with a chronic illness. I specialize in working with individuals with Dysautonomia and POTS, providing a safe and warm space where you can process experiences, find acceptance, adaptability, and resilience. My training in integrative health allows me to take a holistic approach, acknowledging the full mind-body connection.
Empowering Techniques: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EXRP, and Psychoeducation
In addition to utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and psychoeducation, I am trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (EXRP) to specifically address teen OCD symptoms. We'll work together to become aware of destructive patterns, core beliefs, and unhelpful thinking, fostering healthier ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving.
Rapid Relief: Accelerated Resolution Therapy
I'm trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), a groundbreaking approach that delivers structured, short-term solutions for anxiety, depression, panic disorders, grief, and trauma. ART brings significant relief in just a few sessions and offers effective strategies for managing chronic pain.
Beyond the Therapy Room
When I'm not working with clients, you can find me baking, exploring record shops, attending concerts in the city, and spending quality time in Target (as we all do!).
