Teen DBT Summer Day Camp

An entire 35-week DBT program in one week!

Does your teen...

  • Sometimes feel “bad” or “upset” without knowing exactly why?

  • Judge herself critically or make statements about disliking herself?

  • Avoid feelings by shutting down or self-harming?

  • Tend to dwell on the negative parts of life?

  • Feel hopeless or like she has nothing to look forward to in life?

  • Ignore her own needs, but focus on wanting others to be happy?

  • Get into unhealthy relationships with people who don’t treat her fairly?

  • Have a hard time standing up for herself?

  • Switch friend groups often or cut others off easily?

  • Feel misunderstood or alone?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a research-backed program to help your teen develop effective coping skills, manage self-criticism and improve interpersonal relationships while increasing overall focus, resilience and emotional well-being.

Camp Will Help Your Teen...

  • Learn to like and accept herself exactly as she is and find self-worth (so she stops compromising her values and avoiding conflict to please others.)
  • Learn to recognize that inner critic and flip it to find an inner sense of empowerment so she approaches life with more confidence, independence and motivation.
  • Learn the skills to manage difficult emotions and find balance so that when she feels sad or anxious, she has the practical tools she needs to deal with it in the moment and continue to move forward without falling apart or acting in self-destructive ways.
  • Learn how to set healthy boundaries, assert herself and to say "No" when it matters
  • Learn how to take pride in her work without putting undue pressure or stress on herself to be perfect

Camp Details:

When:  Monday through Friday, July 10th through 14th from 9 AM to 4 PM

Where:  Creative Healing at 1811 Bethlehem Pike, Suite 102 in Flourtown.  Camp will take place in different rooms and offices throughout the building as teens will meet with a variety of specialists for different groups, activities and workshops throughout the day

Who:  This camp is perfect for the high school teen girl who is experiencing anxiety, depression or low self-esteem or who wants an introduction to DBT skills and may not have the time in her schedule for a weekly DBT skills group.

What:  We will cover a variety of topics and groups throughout the day.  Some activities include a nature photography walk, mindfulness, letting go of judgments, building strong girls and raising self-esteem, learning to communicate peacefully and assertively, learning to manage intense emotions in a healthy way and learning to accept and express yourself through the arts.

Why:  I design and run camps and groups because I believe in the power of community.  20% of teens will experience depression at some point in high school and research confirms that having a strong network of support improves depression and decreases anxiety while making teens overall healthier.  Calling together groups of teens to find support and to help them understand that they are not alone is my passion.  And when I can bring together other amazing therapists and specialists in our community to surround these teens with means that they have a multitude of options to find the help they need.

Cost:  The full camp investment is $497 for the week.  A payment plan of 3 monthly payments of $175 is also available.  Insurance may reimburse you for a portion of the cost if you have out-of-network benefits.  (Please call your insurance company and ask what they will reimburse for a 90853 if you want to determine the reimbursement rates per day.)

I'm Katie K. May, Founder of Creative Healing and Licensed Teen Therapist.  I run 6 full groups in my practice (both Teen Therapy Group and Teen DBT Skills Group) and have seen firsthand the power of bringing teens together to catalyze positive change.

Groups are an amazing way to help teens:

  • Relate to each other, feel heard and validated and understand that they are not alone in their struggles
  • Learn the skills to manage intense moods and to effectively build self-esteem
  • Establish healthy peer supports and get helpful feedback to transfer skills to everyday life.

Our last two camps sold out within a week and we expect this one will be no different!
